Today was a little laid back in the beginning.  I wanted to go into Nairobi to check on some things but was not able to get started until after noon. Allie, Bernice, Samwell and I drove into downtown Nairobi and for one picked up allies pillow she left in Nakuru with the Hubeners.  Denny was coning to town and agreed to drop it off for us.  It was a real blessing for Allie to have it back.  We went o some hops and I picked up towel racks to install in Dr. Simon’s house where we are staying.  We then went to Nakumat to purchase some things for a children’s program a the church that is going on in the next few days.  Allie is looking forward to helping out with it.  We then made our way through Nairobi traffic at around 6:30PM and Allie helped get dinner ready.  Joyce (Simons wife) was busy cooking and we all helped.  One thing I noticed was the as range was burning with a very yellow flame.  I asked what hey were using for fuel and they said it was the local propane and the stove was from the states.  I will be checking into it tomorrow to see if I can improve it as it is sooting up the house and pots and pans.  While Dinner was being prepared I was able to get online with Lori and she and I emailed back and forth until dinner was served here.  Dr. Simon came back from a long day as did a brother and sister from Nyanza province named Dorothy and Chris Dulo.  After dinner Chris and I had a very interesting conversation.
Chris is a farmer in Kindu Bay near Homa Bay which is about 30km from Mbita where we have land and am wanting to build a demonstration farm.  Chris is a rare person for his culture with a heart to help his community and a desire to do farming.  He is a forward thinker and involved with many agriculture projects and even has a couple of dairy cows to boot.  He and I discussed the success and failure of projects and he only confirmed some of my core convictions on how to really help there.  I have made a new friend in him and it will be interesting to see what the future holds.  I gave him a copy of my self reliance file which has over 11,000 documents on subjects ranging from alcohol production to water and sanitation and everything in between.  He was very glad to get the resource.  By now it is late and time to get to bed.  Tomorrow will be busy working on some projects around Dr. Simon’s house.
