Disease prevention requires good management
and nutrition as well as an effective programme
for vaccination, deworming and dipping.

Disease can have various causes. Some of these causes are germs such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. The following is a list of situations that could result in sheep/goats becoming sick.

Dirty surroundings

Poor condition

Stress

Not vaccinating animals

Lambs/kids not suckling enough

Not checking new animals

Eartagging, tail docking and castration

Worms

Ticks and mites

Toxic plants
